Greed

Greed is like a cool, smooth snake undetectably coiling itself around hearts.
He cunningly conceals himself behind words like fair, equitable or just.
All the while insisting on the most inequitable of conditions.

Foolishly, we think we are free from him.
We confidently trust that he will never touch us.
Then, someone we love dies.
And the snake begins his journey.

It is never the host who becomes aware of the constrictor's presence.
He is recognized only by hearts that are free from his enticements.
And, they remain ever powerless to stop him.
